a shovel on the altar of the '500 S. Lanfranco

This morning, the 11 am Mass at the beginning of the liturgy, the parish priest Fr Emilio informed those present that "a generous and anonymous donor" has donated to the Basilica of St. Lanfranco beautiful tipinto the 'sixteenth century, recently restored by the donor did, that in some time will be displayed with other paintings already in S. Lanfranco, in the Presbytery of the Basilica.
The new painting, visible in some images of the post, open to the faithful after the traditional liturgical blessing of fact, depicts Mary holding the infant Jesus, with the two persons, covered, and left to right, S. San Siro Biagio. The author of the painting remains unknown for now, the style of painting and the expressive elements of the work suggest a product of late-Renaissance school.
exposure provisionally on a column of the altar, in an area sufficiently lit to appropriate appreciation of the work, it did not fully the beauty of the painting, which will become an altarpiece.
In the final position in the Basilica, as the parish priest, we will try to make the most of the painting, adequately lit, with lights "harmless and not annoying."
I took some pictures of the painting, but the flash of my camera it is rather weak and the results are modest. The relative height of the painting, a few feet above my point of observation and interference of light "missing" side did not facilitate my task.
However, the photos already provide a good idea of \u200b\u200bthe beauty of the picture.
