Wearing Oakley Razor Blades

the snows of the Conca of Pila

this morning with a party of the Parish of St. Lanfranco, I was on a trip to 1800 meters of the Conca of Pila, a concave terrace, for lovers of skiing and mountain, which overlooks the city of Aosta, which is about 18 km of track with hairpin bends. The basin is closed to the south by a series of peaks that oscillate around 3000 meters, with the highest summit on Mount Emilius, to over 3500 meters. In reality it is the same cordiglera mountainous west has its greatest height in Gran Paradiso, m. 4061, the summit is not visible from the terrace of Pila, because hidden from other mountains.
Departing from Pavia, around 6:40, we encountered a light rain for much of the path, almost to Aosta. But the weather forecast, I suspect on the Internet in recent days and is expected to Pila good enough for the day, I was not betrayed, were confirmed. A battery, on arrival of our bus at about 9:40 the weather was quite good: the sky was slightly cloudy, but no rain or snow, with a short burst of sunshine. The sun has deployed more vigorously toward the south, magnificently illuminated, a very intense white light, the ski slopes is to have fun.
I had never been previously in Pila, I had read that the resort was particolarmnente equipped for both "down the sport, both for the various fun activities for young people, including snowboarding, skiing, acrobatics, skating, the bobsleigh or raft, ski school for beginners.
The temperature fluctuated at around 5 / 6 grades, good visibility, the wind almost non-existent.
stations of cable cars and chairlifts were crowded, but the access operations were not fast enough. The group consisted of Pavia
a good number of young people and children, some of which are already brilliant downhill skiing. Some of them have preferred to engage in bobsleigh or boat. Not being
skier, I enjoy walks on paths cleared of snow. The air was clear, clean and inviting. I took several photos, many of which are reproduced here in the blog.
I also visited the area's highest resort of Pila, where, among other things, there is a beautiful ice rink, a track for beginners with adjoining treadmills for the transport of skiers at the top of the trail, a ski school. I could not delight me the annual exhibition of ice sculptures, a distinctive feature of Pila, and winter draws curious caught in that, because of the high temperature, the sculptures had melted.
Around 13, after a summary snack, sitting at a table outside a bar, I took a half hour of sun, which are very bright but not too strong.
Before leaving, after 15, I took the last photos of the day, just as the sun lit up the chain innevatissima northern Valle d'Aosta, Pila opposite, right in front of Aosta.
went down as planned in Aosta, after some photos of the customary arc of August, we reached the Collegiate Aosta around 16:40 where the priest S. Lanfranco, Don Emilio, celebrated an evening Mass for hikers.
out of Mass, we made a quick visit to the old city, still not fully illuminated by the Christmas banners, with shops open, a destination for residents and tourists.
Around 18 we left for Pavia, where we arrived at 20:50, under a light rain. We were really lucky because we received a beautiful day despite the adverse weather conditions at departure and arrival.
